It is almost an entire week since the world bid farewell to a legend of an actor in Chadwick Boseman. Over the past six days since his passing, family, close friends, colleagues, celebrities and the general public have continued to eulogize the Black Panther hero. Everyone had many different things to say but the sweeping similarity in the messages that have done rounds since has been the praise of his strength and willpower. Chadwick had been suffering from colon cancer since 2016 but no public domain had wind about it until his death on 28th of August 2020. Because of this best-kept secret, one man definitely regrets some remarks he made concerning the departed star.
“I have to say with a little bit of regret that I probably wasn’t the most altruistic in that environment, but hindsight teaches us a lot of things,” Clarke Peters said. Him and Chad were working together on the set on Spike Lee’s ‘Da 5 Bloods’, Chad’s last movie released before his demise. "What I'm addressing is basically, my wife asked what Chadwick was like. I was really excited to work with him. I said, 'I think he's a little bit precious.' And she said, 'Why?' And I said, 'Because he's surrounded by people who are fawning over him.’”
“He has a Chinese practitioner, who is massaging his back when he walks off set. He has a makeup lady massaging his feet. His girlfriend is there holding his hand,” Peters said. “And I’m thinking maybe the Black Panther thing went to his head.” Of course, this treatment was to ease the pressure that his ailment was having on him and the realization of this was incredibly hard on Peters. Fighting tears, Clarke said, “I regret even having those thoughts because they were really looking after him.”
Spike Lee himself had kind words for the Chad. “We filmed Da 5 Bloods in Thailand, and it was hot, jungles, mountains, and Chadwick was there with us all the way. I never, ever suspected that anything was wrong. No one knew he was going through treatment, chemotherapy.” He concluded with a simple, “We miss you, Chadwick, we’re going to celebrate your life."
