Phenomenal! That’s all that can be said, honestly. Much else will be recurring the very fact that Sauti Sol will give you heaven on a plate whenever you ask for it and last night will go down in history as one scrumptious treat! The boys were nothing short of world class and the fans agreed unanimously. Having had to go virtual as a result of the coronavirus pandemic situation in the country, there were a few specks of doubt as to whether the Midnight Train Album Launch would be as electrifying as it would have otherwise been. Hah! These guys are practically incapable of disappointment.
The concert was powerful as much as it was artistic and breathtaking. From the otherworldly attire of the performers to the engulfing live surrounding of the stage, everything was simply amazing. Performance after performance, you would think that you had heard the best of it until the instrumental to the next jam awoke. The voices of the trio were as good as ever, if not much, much better. It is safe to say that anyone who watched that performance felt all the vibe there is to feel in the real thing.
The viewership was also levels up the scale. An estimated attendance of about 45,000 people was recorded. To put that into perspective, Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge (the football club’s official stadium) has a sitting capacity of just under 42,000. So yes… many people! Richard Njau, the man behind the CTA YouTube channel had this to say: “In short, Sauti Sol’s live show just filled an international stadium. And I ain’t talking Kasarani.” He concluded saying the band did an epic job. “They have raised the Kenyan and African banner to a place where no other musician has done!” And the Kenyans agree, don’t you?
