Okafor Uchenna Victor, popularly known as Mr Real, is a Nigerian musician from Lagos State. Many of Mr Real songs become very popular and trendy online with a great number of streaming and downloads on Boomplay.
He was born on 8th September and is a native of okija, Anambra state. However, he was born and raised in the Abule - Egba area of Lagos state and he had his education there. Mr Real though of Igbo origin speaks Yoruba language fluently. His previous stage name was Real Self before he changed it to Mr Real.
Career
He started his music career by joining a band while in secondary school (a Plantashun Boiz cover band). His musical influences include 2face Idibia and South African music group, Uhuru. Mr Real has been in the industry for over a decade before hitting the limelight, he started out as a producer in 2002. He also had his first recording with Terry G in 2006 on the song “Kakaraka” and the video was shot by Akin Alabi, though the song wasn’t successful.
Mr Real kept pushing his music career despite the daunting challenges until he got the inspiration for his hit song “Legbegbe” which means side by side in Yoruba, while eating semovita and Egusi soup at a local restaurant. The song became a major hit catapulting him into the spotlight as one of the pioneers of the new “Shaku Shaku” dance.
Today he has become highly sought after and has already done collaborations with the likes of D’Banj, Slimcase, CDQ, Mr Eazi, Falz, Klever Jay, Jaywon, Small Doctor, Zoro Swagbag, Solidstar and others.
He started out without a record label but in April 2018 landed a recording deal with Sony Music Entertainment Africa. Other artists signed on Sony Music include the likes of D’Banj, Tekno, Davido and Tiwa Savage.
