Princewell Emmanuel, better known as Alpha P is a 17-year old singer-songwriter born on 26th February, 2002 in Edo State capital, Benin City, Edo State, Lagos, Nigeria. Many of Alpha P's Songs became very popular and trendy on social media in line with a great number of streaming and downloads on Boomplay.
He is currently signed to Universal Music Group, Nigeria. Following the release of his first song, ‘Mercy', he went on to release various singles such as, ‘Starboy' and ‘Real Boys'.
Career
The rapper who is the fourth child in a family of seven is currently completing his tertiary education in University Of Lagos after relocating to the state in 2017. Alpha P kicked off his career in music at the age of just four, he first started as a rapper in his local church and during this time the young talented Alpha P developed his confidence in music.
Growing up, Alpha P was inspired by genres such as Trap, R&B, and afrobeats artists such as Wizkid, Wande Coal, D'banj and Banky W heavily impacted his taste while, artists such as Drake, Lana Del Rey, The Weekend, and Khalid inspired him to embrace a Western sound -hence his style of blending genres. He does not believe his sound fits into a particular genre of music as he is constantly creating and fusing new music together to create unique projects. Alpha P is here to lead his pack, hence why he is called, ‘The King of the Wolves' which is the titled to his first EP released under Universal Music Nigeria.
Alpha P meet Rema who was also born and raised in Benin while their were both members of their church choir, the two formed a music group called "RNA" and emerged winners at Dream Alive with Pikolo Season 2 in 2016. At 15, Alpha P moved to Lagos to join his friends who had called on to him, it was there that he got discovered by his manger who later sent his music to UMG and subsequently got signed to the label.
According to the young rapper, he draws inspiration from the likes of J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, PartyNextDoor, Canadian heavyweight, Drake and Nigerian superstar Wizkid. He released his first body of work, a 5-tracks Extended Play project titled "King Of Wolves" on Nov 15th 2019 under Universal Music Group. his most notable single "Paloma" has gained millions of streams on all music streaming platforms and still counting. His steady rise to the mainstream is not surprising as the 18-year old youngstar sure boast an impressive catalog, he has worked with the like of Davido, DJ Tunez and South African rapper, Tellaman who featured him on his song "Cross My Heart".
His most recent release, a single he titled "Quarantine" dropped on September 16th 2020, the exceptional track produced by BlaiseBeatz tells the story of sickness stricken girl loved so much by her boyfriend who would risk his life to spend those final moments with her.
