Metal post-2000 has been on a fascinating journey, from conquering the planet in the early 2000s to expanding and evolving more than ever in recent years. Who could have predicted Limp Bizkit becoming the biggest band in the world for a moment, or three young girls from Japan named Babymetal becoming the biggest thing in metal for a generation? More than anything else, though, 21st century metal has provided us with a shit-ton of amazing, genre-defining anthems. Two decades into the century, we thought we’d try to give ourselves a headache by counting down the “Top Mental Songs”. Metallica, Pressure cracks, Jasta, Camille saint Saenz and Dave Hewson are the first five contributors of the playlist, a clear show of variety from these bands. Each metal song in the playlist is different in many ways, but in all the songs, the energy is DOPE. Amongst the 21 Metal songs, Europe has the highest number of songs in this playlist, with songs such as “The gateway plan”, and “wish i could believe ?”. All other artists have contributed one song or two in the playlist with melodious verse.
