5 Recent Hip-Hop One Hit Wonders
Kenya

The term one hit wonder can be harsh and unfair to some extent but there is literally no better way to describe an artist who fell off the face of the earth after having a colossal hit that was inescapable.
Some of the names on my list might be more of one era wonders, spoiler alert Fetty Wap, as they had such a good run with back to back hits then disappeared from the limelight
1) Trap Queen by Fetty Wap
Ugh I hate to come for Fetty cause Trap Queen is such an undeniable hiphop classic that brings back so many good memories and nostalgia but you gotta wonder what happened?
Well word on the street is he signed a bad record contract which restricted him from releasing new music and was giving him an unfair share of his royalties.
Fetty Wap had such a good run in the 2014 /2015 era with back to back bangers such as 679, My Way, Again and RGF Island.
Fetty recently released a new project, stream it when you get the chance and click on trap queen below to remember the good times.

2) Hot N*gga by Bobby Shmurda
Remember popping our knees tryna do the shmoney dance? Hot N*gga is a timeless trap banger that goes hard on headphones and even harder on the dance floor.
This song had everyone and their mom on a chokehold for all the right reasons hence the 5x platinum certifications and pop culture dominance.
Bobby getting arrested with a confession derived from the song was wat put a halt to his promising career, good thing he is out now sadly the hype for his music is still locked up.
Stream his new music though and lets shmoney dance to hot n*gga one more time
Hot N*gga
3) Mo Bamba by Sheck Wes
Mo Bamba needs no introduction this song has been every DJ’s cheat code to get a crowd turnt up.
Mo Bamba is literally one of those monumental rap hits that only come once in a decade and live on forever due to their electrifying nature.
Mo Bamba was so huge that it overshadowed Sheck’s future releases and he still hasn’t been able to live up to match its success.
This 5X platinum hit is feeding him real good though, you should check out how crazy crowds go when he performs it live
Mo Bamba
4) Thotiana by Blueface
On the gang! This melodic hit started out as a viral meme and with Cardi’s assistance made its way to the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100.
Though the beat swallows up Blueface’s verses I have to give him credit for the catchy hook that is the bread and butter of the song.
I would say listen to Blueface recent releases but he is yet to release music worth your time, hence a certified one hit wonder.

5) Whoopty by CJ
Many claim Whoopty was shoved down our throats by Youtube recommendations but in its defence youtube never forced you to press play so give this bop its flowers.
Whoopty was a hit in its ticking 15 minutes of fame and had all of us bopping during quarantine.
CJ released an EP and a mixtape afterwards but nothing stuck and honestly never will, I think his music style is very reminiscent of tekashi’s and hiphop gatekeepers just can’t risk another sixnine.
Whoopty
