Crafting the perfect stage name is crucial for any artist, and it's not an easy decision to make. It represents you as an artist, your brand and it goes a long way years after you retire. It also serves as an inspiration to younger acts looking up to you.

The perfect stage name needs unique and memorable; a bad one can be forgotten immediately. It’s not rare to find artists change their names a few times before finally sticking to one. I.e Prince became The Artist Formerly Known as Prince. but one thing stands: each one comes with a unique story behind it.

1. CARDI B: Born Becalis Marlenis Almánzar, Cardi B got her stage name because her sister is named Hennessy, and from that, she was nicknamed Bacardi, a name she formerly used for her social media before she became famous. she was eventually forced to change it because there’s a liquor brand with the same name then her stage name became Cardi B.

   
   

2. Lizzo: Lizzo came up with her stage name when she was just 14 years old. Her birth name is Melissa Viviane Jefferson, she got her nickname in her first rap group, the Cornrow Clique, which she formed with two other classmates. Her first option was "Lissa," but she was inspired by Jay-Z’s song “Izzo (H.O.V.A.)” and she changed it to Lizzo.

   
   

3. Snoop Dogg: Snoop Dogg’s name changes like the weather. He was born Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., he was given the nickname "Snoopy" growing up because his mom thought he looked like the character Snoopy name from Peanuts comics. He eventually decided to rap under the name Snoop Dogg, which has received variations like Snoop Doggy Dogg and Big Snoop Dogg over the years. The title of her debut album is Amala, She got her stage name from two things she likes. she used to be a big fan of marijuana and chose "doja," which is slang for cannabis, for her moniker.
