Buzz Discoveries: How Mohbad Got Signed To Marlian Music
By Excel Joab
Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba popularly known on stage as Mohbad is a street-hop artiste who has been able to achieve fame through his catchy street anthems and viral videos. With some popular street anthems under his belt like Adura, Imole and Omo Ase.
Mohbad got his big break last year when he signed to Naira Marley's "Marlian Music record label. Since then, his fame substantially grew but as he tells us in this interview, so did his work ethic. As at the time, we did that interview, he was just coming from an almost 24-hour studio session.
When asked why he worked so hard, he admitted that he sees music as his way out of being a regular person and becoming someone to be reckoned with. He also talked about the pressures he faces as the breadwinner of his family. They all look up to him and he cannot let them down, hence the long nights in the studio.
As for getting signed to Marlian Music, he tells us that they started talking after Naira Marley's EFCC scandal. It started with him asking for a verse from the Marlian Music boss and that led to a conversation about getting signed. He goes on to talk about his style of music, his next project and what it's like to work with Naira Marley.
