Joanny is one of the fastest rising musicians coming out of Melbourne, Australia. He was born Joachim Nnaemeka Emeodi in the Eastern part of Nigeria and is the last of five children.
As a kid, Jo’Boy (as he is fondly called) grew up listening to his parents’ taste of selected playlists which included Reggae, Afropop, African Highlife Music (Native to Eastern Nigeria), as well as Country music. Exposure to such several music genres has seen Joanny’s music style as a blend / fusion of, but not limited to Afro pop, afrobeats, reggae , dancehall, hip hop and RnB, as well as country and gospel music.
He attended Stallamaris Amiri in Oru- east local government, and Bonus Pastor seminary in secondary level. He started his tertiary education at Imsu (Imo state university), before he moved to Austraila to further his education as a mechanical engineer at the Melbourne institute of engineering.
His love for songwriting, singing and performing started at a very early stage where he would sing in the church and school, with his early stages of songwriting, composing and writing reggae and gospel music which he would perform for his then huge audience - His Mum.
At Bonus Pastor Seminary Osina, he was part of the school music band, where he was actively involved in the band’s gospel album in 2006, which was a huge success in the churches and missionary outlets in the mostly the Eastern part of Nigeria.
Music strengths include songwriting and vocals, as well as music productions. His favorite musical instrument is the piano, which he developed his love for when his mum bought him his first piano at age 9, as a reward of his great academic results.
Joanny returned to Nigeria in January 2021 to fully work on his music. He dropped the project “People times and emotions” on the 13th of August 2021. This landed him more visibility in the Nigerian music space with songs like fely and watch you premiering on various platforms like soundcity and major radio outlets like beatfm, cool fm, wazobia, and many more.
His latest single “Body Count” was released 8th of April 2022, and since then the track as gone to steer up many controversial conversations, and has many people questioning the angle of the narrative.The single is available on all digital platforms....more
