Jean-Pierre Nimbona also referred to as Kidum is a Burundian musician, song-writer and singer born on the 28th Oct 1974 in Bujumbura, Kinama, Burundi. He majorly focuses on Afro-zouk as his genre of music. Many of Kidum's Songs became very popular and trendy on social media in line with a great number of streaming and downloads on Boomplay.
Career
Kidum whose nickname was given to him by his mother, started having interest in music when he was 10 years and formed a band in Burundi. He fled Burundi for Kenya in 1995 and took him 4 years to start writing again while in Kenya.
In 1999 he recorded his first single "Yaramenje" which was in Burundi and it even caught the late former President Daniel Arap Moi's attention who recognized him as a symbol to unite Burundi and Kenya.
He later started doing his songs in Swahili but later added French, English and Spanish to reach a larger audience. With his current BodaBoda Band (Crossing Borders), Kidum performs throughout Africa, the Middle East, Canada and soon in Europe, USA and many other places. He has also done quite a number of collabos with Kenyan artists and other from outside.
Achievements
Kidum has been a successful artist with recognitions from many people and places like the Late former President Daniel Arap Moi and some Canadians who invited him to perform in Canada In 2014.
He was named the Best Male Artist of East Africa at the 2012 Kora Awards. He was also named as an Ambassador for Peace. In 2011, he received the Pearl of Africa Music Award same to 2015 where he got the ISC'S World Music Award.
