Lindsey Abudei

Raised in Jos, Nigeria by parents who poured their diverse musical tastes—Rock, Blues, Jazz, R&B—into their daughter's eager, outstretched ears, Lindsey Abudei, singer/songwriter, shaped these influences into her own: an earthy, contemporary sound built by a fusion of Jazz, R&B, Soul and Alternative.

"I'm interested in human experiences in every sphere — my personal ones and of those around me.
My message is about (finding) freedom— in our selves, in our stories, in our conversations and our lives and our communion with each other.
The feelings I want to convey are those of warmth, solace. ", she says.

Before kicking off solo, Lindsey had features & worked on collaborations with acts like MI Abaga on his 'Talk About It' album, Illegal Music I & II mixtapes; Jesse Jagz, 'Jag Of All Trades' album, Djinee, Kahli Abdu and South African singer, Sonti Mndebele.

Her EP, 'Brown' and recent album, '...And The Bass Is Queen.' has had her open for acts like Așa, the French Nicolas Folmer Quartet and South African band, Mi Casa.

She is also a Radio France Internationale Prix Decouvértes 2013 Awardee, an Art OMI Music 2017 Fellow (US), a BANFF Jazz & Creative Music 2018 Alumnus (Canada), a Red Bull Music Academy 2018 Alumni, a selected musician for MAPAS 2019 in Tenerife, Spain, a British Council ColabNowNow 2019 Resident and has had her music used in Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Awards( AMVCA) and Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) 2018 nominated and winning movie, 'Isoken'.
