His parents ( their dad George abused alcohol, their mother, Joan was a designer, who sewed clothes ) and encouraged his siblings to secure their education at an early age. While his siblings were still kids, the family disbanded. Neef and his older brother lived with their grandparents
During the summertime which was only 3 months, after they would return to Kingston, by themselves with no parents, Joan their mother, got shot and would then recover and find her way to Canada then later on to the united states, leaving Neef temporarily homeless for 5 years.
