Born Chimuanya Tobenna Okereke, Chimy is a native of Anambra state but he was raised in Port Harcourt, Rivers State Nigeria. Many Chimy songs become very popular and trendy online with a great number of streaming and downloads on Boomplay.

He grew a bone for music while watching his elder brother who is a rapper, rehearse and throw lines. This cultured into songwriting while he develops into a singer/songwriter with influences from the like of Timaya, Burna Boy, D’banj, Flavour, Wizkid and Mr Eazi as he grew older.
Chimy started making music professionally in 2017, when he also took out time to learn music production and sound engineering. He released his official single “Text Back” in the same year and ever since then, it’s been one release after the other.
He classifies his music as “Afro Junk” because his sound was chiseled by afrobeat, reggae, and dancehall influences at a high propensity. Chimy’s lyricism drips with witty and cheerful sensuality. He is popularly known for hit singles like ‘Text Back’, ‘For Me’ which features Pohzitive, ‘Concept’ which also features Kiienka & Veen, and the most sensational of them all; ‘Trips & Munchies’ which not only features Dr. Barz and Dandizzy; but is the first single off his upcoming album ‘Major Curing’.
He is currently signed to 9 Figures Empire.
