Elani

Elani is a Kenyan African pop group from Nairobi, Kenya. It consists of 3 members namely Wambui Ngugi, Brian Chweya and Maureen Kunga. The trio became more famous and popular after the release of their first debut single "Jana Usiku" in Nov 2013 and it became a success paving a clean way for their subsequent singles.

Career.
Elani met in Jan 2008 at Alliance Française in Nairobi. The group originally consisted of four members: Wambui Ngugi, Maureen Kunga, Brian Chweya and Daniel Kimani but Kimani's departure has never been explained.

They became more serious with music in 2010 and 2011 when they mutually decided to take their careers to the next level with Brian and Maureen being a law school graduate (University of Nairobi) and an advocate of the High Court of Kenya while Wambui being an Actuarial Science graduate (University of Nairobi).

Achievements
In 2013, the band released their debut single "Jana Usiku" and in March 2014, they released their second single "Milele". In mid 2014, the trio released "KooKoo" and was the most downloaded song across all the downloading platforms.

As of 16 Jul 2014, "KooKoo" was ranked second coming after Bahati's "Barua". The band finally had a breakthrough that year with release of "Zuzu," "Uko Wapy," "Barua ya Dunia," and "Mahindi".

They also featured Chameleone in their new single "My Darling". The group managed to bag the award for Best African Pop in the AFRIMA Awards in 2014 and got nominated in Channel O Music Video Awards for Most Gifted East song being "KooKoo" in 2014.
